As part of transformation and the establishment of the Law& initiative we are looking for an experienced finance professional to join our well established finance centre of excellence and step into this exciting newly created opportunity.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant, with project management experience as well as experience in dealing with the broad range of accounting issues that arise within an organisation. They would have the energy and knowledge to create solutions to technical and practical challenges, while having exceptional senior stakeholder management abilities. Group accounting experience would be an advantage.

This role is a permanent full time position.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all accounting issues relating our Law& projects including the new group of subsidiary companies. We envisage this will be 80% of the role for the first 6 months. The issues range .i.e.

    • Ensuring regulatory requirements are met
    • Financial operations including billing are efficient
  • Group Accounting lead on key projects (currently confidential projects)

  • Act as the group accounts liaison on all firmwide projects, reviewing resource requirements and scheduling, managing change control process where appropriate

  • Report monthly on project progress to the Finance Project Board

ABOUT YOU

  • Be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent) have project management experience

  • Have project management experience

  • Have a strong technical background and be confident technically

  • Be able to research technical accounting questions/issues where the answer isn’t necessarily readily available and be able to make recommendations/ provide advice on appropriate treatment

  • Be confident in using Excel

  • Be comfortable meeting and building up relationships with members of the other finance teams

  • Be able to challenge current practice and thinking and to be challenged

  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be fluent in English

  • Be a self-starter, who is able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a team, and has a strong client service orientation

  • Be comfortable operating in sometimes ambiguous situations, demonstrating a flexible and collaborative personal working style

  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and working to conflicting timescales on multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment

  • Be willing to travel internationally
