Job Details

Our Data Protection practice is growing.  As part of our national UK 50 strong fee earner commercial practice, the Data Protection team is one of the largest and most successful of its type.  Our enviable client base includes household names in a wide variety of sectors such as retail, financial institutions, insurance, manufacturing and the government, public and charity sectors.  We're building a real reputation for the provision of premium data protection advice that delivers results for both our lawyers who love the work they do, and for our clients whom we're helping to grow, expand and succeed.

Led by Chambers rated noted practitioner Andrew Kimble, our Data Protection practice has a leading reputation for delivering innovative solutions that make it easier to do business, whilst maintaining compliance and reducing risk.  We're looking for an experienced data protection specialist to join us, and can be flexible about location across London, Bristol, Southampton, Leeds or Newcastle.  All our offices have a strong commercial offering, a collegiate atmosphere and a commitment to providing a national service for our clients.

So what will you be doing?

You'll be advising major private and public sector clients across a variety of sectors on data protection, privacy, information governance and cyber security issues.  GDPR and other new privacy and cyber laws are creating opportunities for us to support new and existing clients with their data protection compliance, from upfront gap analysis and provision of compliance solutions through to breach response and notifications.  Needless to say it's an exciting time to join.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

With an experience level of at least four years PQE, you'll have a proven track record in delivering data protection and information governance advice ideally in a large regional or city law firm or in-house.  Just as important will be your ability to deliver advice to our clients in a commercial way, developing and deepening relationships to drive opportunities for us to work in partnership with our clients to achieve their strategic goals.

So what’s it for you?

If you're looking to build a career as a specialist Data Protection and Information Governance lawyer, with access to the best FTSE250 and public sector clients with a true pipeline of quality work, come and talk to us.  We have a sophisticated lawyer development programme to support both professional and personal development, a clear and transparent career framework which supports career progression through to Managing Associate and beyond.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.

We love what we do and are keen to share it with you – if you want to hear more why not get in touch? My name is Emma Forrester and you can reach me on 0117 989 6593.
