Job Details

In this role you'll be working closely with a Partner on City specific, complex and high value work in London.  It demands dedication, an ambitious work ethic and a focus on first class service.  You'll be in an enviable position to quickly strengthen your experience and enjoy challenging but fulfilling work.

This team is led by Michelle Chance who has been ranked for many years in both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 for both her employment and her contentious partnership disputes practice.  The team act mainly for employers and senior executives, LLP's and partnerships, individual partners and LLP members  on complex high value city employment and partnership matters.  Financial and reputational stakes are high and span a variety of sectors including financial services, media, technology and professional services.

The work is varied involving contentious and non-contentious advisory matters with very little corporate support work and is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working at board level, advising on bonus disputes, complex discrimination cases, sensitive whistleblowing matters, internal investigations involving disciplinary and grievance issues, restrictive covenants,  and negotiating contracts and exit terms for senior executives and partners/LLP members.

So what are you looking for?

You'll be an experienced employment lawyer with an excellent academic background and a strong track record of delivering employment advice to commercial and senior executive clients, ideally gained within a City firm in London.  In addition to relevant technical skills and experience, drafting ability and attention to detail, also important are a sense of commercial pragmatism, being a team player whilst also being pro-active in using your initiative and driving matters forward, the ability to build lasting relationships with our clients  and excellent communication and inter-personal skills.  You'll be part of a small team looking to grow, so that means plenty of opportunities to develop your business development skills; an important aspect for all of our lawyers.

You'll have opportunities to contribute to the growth of the team by assisting with the organisation of and attending client events, writing articles for our website and other publications and other marketing activities.

What opportunities are there for me?

This is an excellent opportunity to further your career in a highly acclaimed practice.  We have a clear approach to lawyer career development and this is a team with demonstrable success in developing the careers of our Solicitors into Associates, Managing Associates and beyond.

Our Employment team are passionate about what they do and need like-minded individuals who have a true interest and commitment in building a career with us and our clients.  You'll be joining a team with ambitious plans for growth.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.

That's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose.  We also recognise that the world of work is changing and increasingly, flexibility is important.  With that in mind, we'd also be very keen to hear from you if you are looking for a more flexible working arrangement.
