Job Details

Our Property Disputes team in Southampton provide advice on the full range of contentious property issues. Working with a nationwide team of around 40 fee earners specialising in pure contentious work, the Southampton team have a widely deserved reputation for the provision of excellent service.  Our clients include a number of FTSE 250 household names, across a range of sectors including transport and infrastructure, leisure, energy and charities.

Just because we're big, though, doesn't mean we've lost our personal touch.  It’s the quality and commerciality of our service, our industry insight and the talent and passion of our people that engages our clients, and they love what we do.  It also means that our people are engaged, and excited about the opportunities for growth and development in our business – there is no doubt that it's an exciting place to be.

Property Disputes Partner, Mark Barley, has an exciting opportunity for a property litigator with around two years' experience to join his team in Southampton.  You'll be advising clients on a wide range of substantial contentious property matters, including landlord and tenant (e.g. 1954 Act renewals, dilapidations and break notices) and general property issues such as adverse possession, easements and title disputes.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll have at least two year's post qualification experience and keen to build on the exposure you've already had to quality property litigation work during the last two years and from your training contract with a large regional or city firm.  Just as important are excellent drafting skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism and the ability to build lasting relationships with our clients.

So what makes it so great to work here?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit and supportive team where you can learn from true leaders in their field and build your experience with access to great quality work and great clients. Supported by a collegiate approach, and firm wide commitment to lawyer development there are fewer better places to start your career as a qualified lawyer.

Our location in Southampton is fantastic, just a five minute walk from Southampton Central station and short stroll to shops and restaurants with offices that are the envy of the firm following phase one of an impressive refurbishment.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.
