About Us

Our Insurance practice forms a key part of our strategic sector approach and our well-established national Insurance Disputes Team has received recognition as a team to watch in the insurance market.  We have an impressive track record in successfully defending complex claims; after all we've been providing specialist advice for over 40 years.  Led by Partner, Sushma MacGeoch, the team defend complex professional negligence claims acting for insurers and their policyholders, which include defending lawyers, accountants, architects, barristers, financial advisers, insurance brokers, surveyors and investment and pensions professionals.  The Team also undertakes D&O/FI and coverage work.

Our Insurance Disputes Team has been growing significantly over the last year, with the appointment of a number of new Partners and fee earners into our London office, and has achieved some significant insurance panel appointments.  We're keen to capitalise on this success and keep the momentum going which is why we now have an opportunity for a Partner and/or a senior lawyer to join us and lead the development of the practice in our Leeds office, working with the team in London.

It's an exciting time for us here at Womble Bond Dickinson and we believe we have a great story to share.  Our transatlantic combination, just over 12 months ago, is already delivering great results and has given us a solid platform for growth domestically and internationally.  Whilst the US links are creating great opportunities for our clients, and our business, we've by no means forgotten our roots and our regional UK-heritage remains central to our business strategy.  We've a clear vision, that our Partnership all buys into and supports, and that shared ambition is what will ensure that we deliver a profitable and sustainable business for our clients and our people.

What we're looking for

Leeds has always been important to our growth strategy, and this is a great opportunity for an ambitious Partner and/or senior lawyer to come in and develop the Insurance practice in Leeds , but also to also work with a fantastic group of Insurance partners in London, Bristol, Southampton and other partners in the Leeds office in growing our wider Leeds offering.  We're looking for a partner with a credible track record in the Insurance sector, capable of delivering growth and increasing revenue for the Insurance team and the wider Insurance Sector.  You'll also be expected to support and drive the wider strategic vision of growth for Womble Bond Dickinson.  But as well as driving our business forward, you'll have an equally important role to play in the development of our people, coaching and mentoring and taking responsibility for their career development.

What's in it for you

We've a strong, collaborative culture where success is rewarded and our people are supported and encouraged to achieve their potential, whatever their role in the business.  That means you'll benefit from working with a hugely talented group of business professionals all of whom are enthusiastic and committed to the success of our business and ready to support your practice development whether that's through sector or business development advice and support, learning and development opportunities or technology and innovation.

We might not be shouting it from the rooftops but we've some pretty innovative solutions for our clients and the Insurance team are fully embracing those technologies and practices, all designed to make your life, and those of your clients, that much easier.  You can read more about WBD Advance, and what it can do to support you, here.

We recognise that just because you're a Partner or senior lawyer, your need for career development doesn't end there.  Our Learning and Development team have worked with best in class providers, to design a number of masterclasses for partners intended to enhance their leadership and business skills.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed and contributes to the growth of the business. Visit our D&I page to find out more.

The next step

This is an exciting, but hopefully rewarding role.  If you're up for that challenge then you have the chance to develop your practice, and career, with a firm prepared to invest and support you through our Partnership framework.

If you'd like a confidential chat, please get in touch to find out more; my name is Samantha Lee and you can reach me on 0117 989 6521 or connect with me on LinkedIn.  If you're more comfortable talking to one of our partners, I'd be happy to make that introduction for you.
