Job overview:

This is an exciting time to join the Ashurst Glasgow Global Loans team.  The busy team is an integral part of the Global Loans Practice Group and advises a wide range of high profile clients from banks, credit funds to private equity houses and institutional investors on both domestic and complex multi-jurisdictional deals.  Ashurst's Global Loans practice is recognised by its clients to be one of the most innovative and solution orientated legal practices in the market.  Our team is known to combine legal technical excellence, commercial awareness, skilled execution and a cordial manner to deliver the best outcomes for our clients

This new role is a further example of Ashurst continuing to grow and extend its team of high calibre lawyers based in its Glasgow office.  This represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing, strategic practice with plenty of scope for personal and career development

 Essential skills and experience:

 

  • Qualified mid-level lawyer with experience from a major law firm;
  • Strong general banking transactional experience would be preferred, however we are able to consider strong lawyers with expertise in any transactional specialism;
  • Enthusiasm to innovate and play a part in building the new, unique transactional banking offering in Glasgow; an adaptable person who is a fast learner;
  • A team-player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels;
  • Client facing experience and the ability to understand and respond effectively to client needs;
  • Experience of negotiating with counterparts; and
  • A commercial approach.

Representative Clients

RBS, HSBC, Santander, HayFin, RPC Group, Intermediate Capital Group Plc, Apollo, Davidson Kempner, Renewi plc and BlackRock

Recent Work:

  • Advising a major UK Bank in relation to the implications, implementation and structuring of the ring fencing regime.
  • Advising Renewi plc, the international waste-to-product company, on an amendment and extension to its main banking facility, converting it to a €550 million Green Loan. Renewi is one of the first FTSE250 companies to refinance its entire bank borrowings using green certification.
  • Advising WM Morrison Supermarkets in connection with its financing arrangements including a £1.35bn revolving credit facility.
