Job description

It’s Time

Allen & Overy is a leading global law firm operating in over thirty countries. Embracing new trends and harnessing decades of experience, we’ve earned our place at the forefront of the legal industry. Our partners are recognised as leaders in their field and our deals and cases often make headline business news. As a result, we’ve developed a reputation for delivering excellence, in all that we do. Today, we’re continuing to break new ground. By embracing new ways of thinking and integrating technology into our everyday work, we’ve been named as the Most Innovative Law Firm in Europe by the Financial Times five times. We are recognised as one of the top 30 global investigations practices by the Global Investigations Review and we are ranked in Band 1 in the Chambers Europe 2019 for Corporate Investigations.

Join our team and you’ll be part of a flexible, inclusive culture underpinned by openness and acceptance. We’re driven by the belief that, to perform, people need support and space to collaborate. By combining those values with an ambitious outlook, we can give you the opportunity to thrive.

Department purpose

A&O are renowned for the high quality of our advice in relation to all aspects of investigations and regulatory work, and for the seamless integration on our cross-border matters.  Global investigations is an area that plays to A&O strengths, given our cross-border nature and strategic significance to clients. Whilst much of the growth in global investigations can be attributed to the focus of U.S. authorities on corporate conduct, UK and European prosecutors are now much more active in investigating major corporations and prosecuting them and their employees, or seeking Deferred Prosecution Agreements. Consequently, it is now a major risk area for corporations and a strategic priority for A&O. The recent appointment of two eminent White Collar Crime partners in the UK and France and a Counsel in Germany demonstrate the firm’s commitment to growing our international practice.

We specialise in cases relating to international and domestic corruption, cartels, fraud, money laundering, insider dealing, market abuse and extradition and work with the likes of the SFO (Serious Fraud Office), FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and Competition and Markets Authority.

Role purpose

It is an exciting time for our White Collar Crime practice following significant growth through the appointment of one of the UK’s top WCC litigation partners, and recent instructions on a number of significant and substantial criminal cases. To support us in this continued growth, we are looking to hire an associate with 3-5 years’ PQE. Their role will be to act for corporates, financial institutions and individuals in criminal and regulatory investigations.

We employ the best people who offer the highest quality of service based on a thorough understanding of the technical and commercial context and the most rigorous project management of cases.

Our success is built on the work of talented and motivated people who thrive in a supportive and collaborative environment, dedicated to delivering an exceptional standard of work for our clients. We’re ambitious and forward-thinking, committed to growing our business and meeting the future head-on. We’re not afraid of change, and we believe in challenging the status quo.

We draw on a world-leading network of expertise and a unique platform – such as our Advanced Delivery services and our network of Peerpoint consultants, to set the highest standards for our industry.

Global coverage in today’s market does not simply mean having offices in important cities around the world. For us, it means combining our global resources and sector expertise to work on matters that cross international boundaries with our culturally and geographically diverse teams.
