THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an Associate/Senior Associate within DLA Piper's "Tier 1" Technology, Data and Commercial Team. Our team operates globally across more than 40 countries which means our clients benefit from a valuable combination of global insight and local knowledge that allows us to handle complex  transactions and multi-party, high-value project work across multiple jurisdictions.

By joining us you will have the widest platform to progress your career, in a culture where you have a remit to make a real impact.

We have built a strong global platform based on deep industry knowledge across key growth sectors, where we are driving change to deliver a positive impact for our clients and communities. Our team advise on high profile and complex mandates for telecoms operators, and for major users and suppliers of technology related services, as well as more general commercial work through all stages of a company's growth. Our clients range from emerging market and mature market telecoms operators, major Government departments through to the larger retail and investment banks, airlines, retail groups, , FTSE 100 companies and IT/outsourcing service providers.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is your opportunity to be supported by multiple Partners across a broad spread of work including major telecoms networks projects, outsourcing  (both ITO and BPO), cloud services arrangements, commercial projects and various IT, telco and technology related matters.

Our recent transactions include:

  • Advising on a ground-breaking active and passive Radio Access Network sharing deal between two mobile operators in Kazakhstan as well as similar deals in several other countries
  • Advising on a €500m contract concerning outsourcing of the management of a fixed and mobile telecoms network and an upgrade to LTE
  • Advising on the acquisition of the Globenet submarine cable system by BTG Pactual for US$750m - one of the world's largest ever pure submarine cable acquisitions
  • Advising one of the world's most successful MVNOs as they renegotiated their 10 year wholesale access contract and JV and distribution arrangements. This contract will be worth at least GBP£5billion (and probably more) and used the very novel "revenue share" pricing model
