Job Details

We're looking for an Events Assistant to join our successful Business Development team in Newcastle.  The role is a 6 month contact to start within the next few weeks.

What does the team do?

Our Business Development team is firmly embedded within the business and works closely with our partners and lawyers offering real expertise in winning new business and delivering an excellent client experience.  Our success comes from really understanding our clients, their businesses and sectors and working in strategic partnership with them.  But that’s not enough. We know that to secure new business and further growth, we have to really differentiate ourselves in a crowded market - our Business Development team is crucial to this strategy.

What does the firm do?

Womble Bond Dickinson is a Top 100 law firm globally and Top 20 law firm in the UK, with more than 400 partners and 1,000 lawyers based across 18 US cities and eight UK cities including a significant presence in London. The firm's reach also extends to Europe where it has strategic partnerships with other law firms in Germany and France.

In the UK, Womble Bond Dickinson advises in excess of 40 FTSE 350 companies, many of the largest businesses in the country, government organisations and wealthy individuals. With a focus on eleven key sectors (Energy & Natural Resources; Financial Institutions; Healthcare;  Insurance; Manufacturing;  Real Estate; Retail and Consumer; Transport; Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals; Technology and Private Wealth) the firm’s experience allows it to build strong relationships and deliver an excellent service to clients.

What does the job involve?

This is a hands on role providing support to a busy events function.  Key responsibilities include helping to source venues and liaising with external partners, sending invitations via our Vuture e-communications system (we'll give you training on this), managing acceptances and declines, and ensuring stakeholders are kept up to date of progress. In some instances you'll be there at the event to ensure it runs smoothly on the day.

In addition to the above, you'll help out as and when required with wider marketing aspects of event management and delivery – such as the pulling together of supporting marketing literature, and keeping the events pages on the website up to date, providing administrative support in client development and targeting, business planning and associated action plans. You'll also be responsible for undertaking research and conducting analysis on clients, targets, markets, competitors and rankings in order to identify key opportunities with existing and target clients. The role will also provide some administrative support to the business development leadership team.

What experience should I have?

You'll be highly organised and able to prioritise workloads, manage multiple projects and communicate progress to multiple stakeholders.  You must be a good team player with the energy and tenacity to solve problems and provide solutions to business objectives. In addition you'll have a strong creative flair, balanced with an eye for detail.

You'll also need a flexible attitude to working outside of normal working hours to support the successful delivery of a nationwide events programme (occasional overnight travel may be required at times).

What makes it great to work at Womble Bond Dickinson?

We continually work hard to create an open culture that sets us apart from other firms. Our culture gives us much more of a human feel, emphasising that we're more than just suits!  We make time for each other enabling us to establish professional relationships that become lasting friendships.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.

So you're interested but have some questions?
