THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently recruiting for an Associate to join DLA Piper's global Leveraged Finance team in London. With one of the largest teams of dedicated finance lawyers in the world and an established local law firm network, we help our clients to realize their financial strategies in whichever markets they do business.

Our clients include the full range of market participants, whom we often support on first-of-a-kind deals and in new markets.

Our team advise both lenders and borrowers (including private equity funds) on the financing of domestic and cross-border leveraged finance transactions.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of our market-leading global team, candidates will enjoy a uniquely dynamic range of work, acting for borrowers and creditors at all levels of the capital structure.

  • Involvement on all aspects of a wide range of high profile debt financing transactions including leveraged buy-outs and re-financings, structured finance, real estate finance, acquisition financings, public-to-private transactions, investment grade syndicated loans and growth market loans

  • Negotiate, document and advise clients on loan agreements, bond indentures and related contracts
  • Working with teams on structuring issues and regulatory/reputational concerns
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with other relevant groups throughout the firm

ABOUT YOU

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies.  We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 1 and 2 years' PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to successfully undertake this role.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate strong technical skills, with an international awareness and focus to their work
  • Have gained exposure to leveraged/acquisition finance deals
  • Have experience assisting clients dealing with distressed credit issues
  • Be able to handle multiple priorities, working  to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Be able to build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally
  • Be keen to get involved in business development
  • Comply with professional standards and all relevant regulatory obligations
  • Comply with the firm's systems, policies and procedures in all matters, including compliance, financial systems and time recording
