Job Details

Here at Womble Bond Dickinson we love to celebrate success. In 2017 we won an award at the National Apprenticeship Awards ceremony held in London and due to our ambitious nature and past success we're excited to introduce more Apprenticeship opportunities across the firm.

Our latest apprenticeship opportunity is within our Finance team joining as an Apprentice Credit Controller based in our Newcastle office.

The team

Central to our success are of course our very talented lawyers, but they couldn't achieve their results without the ongoing support from our Finance team who have an essential role to play in growing the business and maintaining our financial performance. This strong financial performance is protected by our Credit Control team who control the credit offered to clients and managing any debt owed.

What will the apprentice do?

Our apprenticeship will offer the opportunity to gain a formal Level 2 Credit Controller qualification as well as paid on-the-job training. You will learn the key aspects of the role which focus on how to resolve disputes and support debt, invoicing, processing credit applications and monitoring debt, how to set policies, facilitate sales and manage financial risk and knowledge of financial law and regulations. Your progress will be monitored and assessed regularly, by a variety of methods including 1:1 support, workshops and online learning. You'll work alongside and have support from Mark, head of Credit Control and the wider Credit and Finance team.

So what are we looking for?

People are at the very heart of what we do and to succeed we need the most talented and motivated teams in place.  Our approach is really quite simple and underpinned by our values. We work hard but we also want our people to enjoy long and successful careers with us. That means making sure that everybody has the opportunity to develop and grow as well as being rewarded for their successes.  We also feel it is very important to develop our people from within and have decided to recruit an apprentice into this Newcastle-based team, so they can learn from the grass-roots upwards and carve out an exciting and interesting career with us.

Naturally, we're looking for someone who has an interest in Finance, particularly credit control. You'll also need to be a 'people-person', organised and efficient, will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, will have a flexible and proactive approach and will be motivated to succeed.

What makes it so great to work here?

I mentioned we're award winning -  in fact we've received recognition for our apprenticeship programme in the form of two awards recently reassuring you that the quality of support you'll receive here is second to none.

Secondly, we've worked hard and continue to work hard, to create an open culture that sets us apart from other firms.  Our culture gives us much more of a human feel, emphasising that we're more than just suits!  We like and make time for each other enabling us to establish professional relationships that become lasting friendships. There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in too; perhaps you're into charity fund raising, we love to see people keen to get involved with our corporate social responsibility strategy, so much so we'll even give you two days per year on us to get involved. In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.

Most of all it's our people that make it a great place to work.

What happens next?

If this sounds like a role that you can do then we want to hear from you.  Please follow the instructions to make a formal application on our website – just a few contact detail questions and then upload your CV and covering letter.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (kita.cureton@wbd-uk.com).

If this isn't the role for you (or the right time) why not connect with me on LinkedIn or follow us on Twitter (@WBD_CareersUK) to keep up to date with all of our opportunities.  We also have a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/womblebonddickinsoncareers/)

Strictly no agencies – We are an in house recruitment team.
