In this role, you will manage the indirect taxes including VAT for DLA Piper international.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directly responsible for UK VAT and indirect tax policies, processing and compliance
• Indirectly responsible for international VAT and indirect tax via local finance teams
• Contributing to firm-wide projects including the implementation of a new finance system
• Providing expert advice to UK front office teams - partners and secretarial hubs
• Supporting on external and internal audits relating to indirect tax
• Developing the VAT knowledge and skills within existing finance teams
• Creating appropriate training materials for DLA Piper Internationally
• Managing external consultants where specialist or country-specific advice is required

ABOUT YOU  

The VAT Manager will:

• Have the appropriate qualifications in UK and international VAT
• Have a theoretical and sound practical understanding of the VAT and indirect taxes
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills and will be able to explain complex issues to non-finance teams
• Confident in dealing with HRMC and other international tax authorities
• Demonstrate patient and collaborative personal working style
• Be an influencer, able to negotiate and have strong decision making skills
• Be comfortable multi-tasking and working to sometimes conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment
