THE OPPORTUNITY

The Partner Tax team are responsible for managing the tax reserves and tax compliance of the Partners of DLA Piper UK LLP under the terms of the partnership agreement.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will have:

  • Direct responsibility for the day to day delivery of partner tax services for the partners and retired partners, including managing tax payments in the UK, calculating their tax liabilities in the UK and other branches, and reconciling their tax reserves

  • Responsible for providing on-going support, information and advice to individual partners in relation to partner tax matters

  • Report on and inform the firm's central accounting and management team as required

  • Liaise and closely co-ordinate actions with members of the central accounting team and other Finance teams in the delivery of partner tax services

  • Operate as part of the broader team ensuring that a coordinated and seamless service is provided by Finance

  • Prepare and calculate tax reserves based on the partners' international profits including claiming credits for overseas taxes, maintaining accurate and up to date records of the amounts due to partners after tax payments and tax releases have been reconciled

  • Forecast future tax liabilities when required

  • Posting tax journals and ensuring the firm's prime records reflect the tax payments and releases

ABOUT YOU

  • High level of numeracy and excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade as the role involves communicating data to and answering questions from Partners and other colleagues based both in the UK and overseas

  • An analytical and logical approach plus a strong understanding of double entry accounting

  • Be able to balance a high volume of work and deliver consistently high quality work under pressure

  • Be able to build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders

  • Experience of monthly and annual reporting requirements, managing conflicting priorities

  • Adherence of policies via proven strong time management and organisational skills

  • Strong Excel skills

  • An accounting graduate, holder of, or working towards, a professional accounting qualification or qualified by experience is desirable. Some personal tax experience would be welcome
