Job Details

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Commercial Disputes team in London to play a key role in developing our Russia/CIS disputes practice. The role has arisen following the high profile arrival of a new partner in 2018.

The practice

Our Commercial Disputes team undertakes a full range of complex corporate and commercial law cases of high value. We have a strong sector focus and are well known for cross-border disputes work, particularly on matters involving  Russia/CIS.

We have a deep specialism in disputes work for Russia/CIS clients and have been doing this work for many years. Our team of Russian-speaking/English-qualified solicitors, combined with our commercial disputes, fraud and asset tracing experience, gives us a powerful CIS disputes offering which is reflected in long term relationships with our clients.

We act for major corporations, financial institutions and private individuals in a wide variety of cases including High Court litigation, enforcement proceedings, and international arbitration under the Rules of LCIA, ICC, SCC and other institutions. Through the network we have built up in Russia/CIS we have also been able to help many of our international clients with Russia/CIS business projects – ranging from setting up businesses and branches to helping with advertising and sponsorship contracts for the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Artem Doudko joined the team in 2018 and leads the practice. Artem is an English qualified Solicitor Advocate who has a strong reputation and profile in his field and has been repeatedly voted as one of the top “young” Russia and CIS disputes lawyers in the Russian Arbitration Association’s annual vote.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Artem has extensive experience of cases under all the major arbitral rules, including both commercial arbitration and investment arbitration. He regularly advises on significant and complex international litigation and arbitration matters, covering a wide range of issues including strategic, substantive, jurisdictional and conflict of laws issues. Artem has acted for major corporate groups, ultra high net worth individuals, states and state-owned entities.

Technical skills and experience

You will be a UK qualified lawyer who with fluent Russian language skills who has trained with and gained knowledge and experience of Russia/CIS disputes at a firm with a strong reputation in this area. Experience of arbitration would also be an advantage. Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
  • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
