Job Details

We have a brand new opportunity to recruit a Paralegal to offer support to our FIG team in our Bristol office, initially on a 5 month fixed-term contract. Your workload will principally involve assistance on one major transaction but there will also be opportunities to work on other matters within our varied group.

The practice

Our highly profitable FIG practice, part of the Business Transactions Group (BTG), spans 4 core service lines: Investment Funds; Payments; Consumer and Small Business Finance; and Financial Regulation.

We advise financial institutions, corporates and service providers on all aspects of the financial services environment in which they operate. We advise across the financial services market and our clients include clearing, commercial, private and investment banks, securities firms, asset and investment managers, e-money and payment institutions, and service providers. Our work ranges from pure advisory work through product launches to outsourcings and M&A.

We are known for our technical excellence, but more so for our solutions-led approach which makes us a good fit for assisting clients bringing innovative products to market. Much of our practice is international in nature, driven through the increasing OC International reach.

The team

"The team is well balanced and well led. Their technical and commercial expertise is complemented by a culture of approachability, openness and business friendly professionalism." – Chambers & Partners

Our FIG team comprises 8 partners and 14 lawyers with 2 trainee solicitors and one Paralegal (vacancy). The team operates from two offices, in London (15 fee earners) and Bristol (8).

The role

In this role you will be:

  • Collating and storing information using an online system specified by one of our key clients
  • Corresponding with the various underlying fund managers to collect relevant documents, and checking these documents against the client/fund details held
  • Managing the simultaneous transfer of a large number of partnership interests and company shares – this will involve transferring about 70 interests, by tracking various documents
  • Assisting in the set-up of entities for various fund structures, companies house filings, first drafts of documents, fund closing mechanics and research tasks

Skills and experience

You will have successfully completed the Legal Practice Course with good academics.

Previous experience working as a paralegal would be advantageous but not a pre-requisite. Most importantly, you need to be someone who is commercially-minded and able to put yourself in the shoes of the client.

You will be:

  • Accurate;
  • Organised;
  • Diligent;
  • A team player;
  • Able to juggle a varied workload within quick turnaround times; and
  • Pro-active and have plenty of common sense.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
