THE OPPORTUNITY 

As part of continued growth within the team, we have a new role for a senior associate with a contentious construction, engineering and infrastructure specialism to join our market leading specialist team, which sits within the firm's wider Litigation & Regulatory practice group.

The team at DLA Piper has developed and grown considerably over the past 3 years and is in need of ambitious and dynamic senior associates to help drive the business forward.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will take on domestic and international construction/engineering disputes. Acting for a diverse client and sector base, the successful candidate will have direct experience in all aspects of disputes avoidance, management and resolution of high quality highly complex disputes in the construction and engineering sector. The role will be based in one of our northern England offices, but will also require frequent travel throughout the UK and to our international offices.

Whilst we do not specify PQE for any of our vacancies, someone operating at Senior Associate level (or equivalent) is the ideal candidate - someone who is able to lead significant cases, is comfortable with responsibility and is looking to take their career to the next level.

ABOUT YOU

  • Solicitor or barrister, ideally qualified in England & Wales or a Commonwealth jurisdiction

  • Strong academics

  • Relevant contentious experience or interest in construction disputes

  • Well-developed professional and interpersonal skills

  • Ambition to develop quickly in a fast growing, dynamic team 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and legal technical skills 

  • Ability to work in a team environment and develop internal and external client relationships 

  • Organised, with an ability to manage projects

  • Proactive and innovative 

  • Appreciation of the issues that are key for clients within the sector 

  • Good knowledge of PC applications, including MS Office
