An opportunity exists for a suitable candidate to join our corporate team advising clients predominantly engaged in the infrastructure sector on mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, joint ventures and reorganisations.

The team handle transactions with international content including large, multi-jurisdictional deals and assist with structuring transactions to accommodate different international regulatory requirements.

Job overview:

We are looking for a senior level qualified lawyer with significant experience in M&A in the power and renewables sectors that is keen to focus on M&A in the power and renewables as well as broader infrastructure sector.

Typical responsibilities on transactions will include:

  • taking client instructions right from day one;
  • guiding the client through the transaction;
  • negotiating sale and purchase agreements (corporate and asset) and ancillary transaction documentation;
  • advising on joint venture and high value commercial agreements;
  • assisting and supervising due diligence exercises; and
  • playing a leading role in transaction management.

In addition to strong technical skills, you should be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for business development and strong interpersonal skills as there will be extensive opportunity to build client relationships and contribute to business planning.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Significant post qualification experience in corporate and asset/business sale M&A, with a focus on the power and renewables sectors, with a reputable international law firm. Broader M&A experience in the infrastructure sector would be desirable.
  • Good organisational skills and experience in transaction management.
  • Excellent academic track record.
  • Enthusiasm for intellectually challenging work.
  • Excellent client relationship skills and experience of business development.
  • An enthusiastic team-player who can work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and expand technical knowledge beyond core transactional skills. 
  • Excellence in attention to detail, identifying inconsistencies that indicate problems with quality of work or misunderstanding of client's needs.

  • Electricity Supply Board in respect of the purchase of interests in the Galloper wind farm

  • Atlantis Resources on the acquisition of Europe's largest tidal power project and the acquisition of SIMEC Uskmouth Power
  • Dalmore Capital Consortium on the acquisition of Cory Riverside Energy
