Job Details

Our national team of disputes lawyers now number over 200 firm wide, and with our proven track record in litigation, arbitration, mediation and specialist disputes advice, the team is undoubtedly a leader in its field.  Our impressive list of FTSE 250 clients including national household names in the financial services, retail and energy sectors among others, means we can offer lawyers a truly diverse mix of extremely high quality work.

Commercial Disputes Partner and Team Leader, Paul Stewart, is looking for a newly qualified lawyer to join the team in Southampton.

What will you be doing?

In this national team you'll find yourself working on a wide spectrum of commercial disputes work emerging from our corporate, banking and public sector teams, with a strong focus on disputes around commercial contracts.  What is common to all our contentious work is the quality and complexity of disputes we're supporting our clients on.  You'll play a central part in large high value cases that are extremely important to our clients and their businesses including manufacturing, transport, energy, healthcare, education, waste and construction.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll be a newly qualified lawyer keen to specialise in commercial disputes who's had exposure to quality litigation during your training contract from a large regional or city firm with excellent drafting skills and a sense of commercial pragmatism.  Equally as important will be your ability to demonstrate a proactive attitude to work and apply a forensic intelligence to complex issues on behalf of our clients with a level of personal resilience to support challenging yet rewarding cases.

So what will you get in return?

Working with the highest calibre clients, in a collaborative collegiate environment this is a great opportunity to gain further experience working on the highest quality instructions.  Our culture is focused on our people - we place real value on personal development with a transparent lawyer career framework

Our location in Southampton is fantastic, just a five minute walk from Southampton Central station and short stroll to shops and restaurants with offices that are the envy of the firm following phase one of an impressive refurbishment.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.
