Job Details

Our Real Estate team are growing fast and we have over two hundred lawyers across the country.  Due to continued growth in client instructions our Residential Team (part of our Real Estate team) have an opportunity for a Legal Administrator to join them in Newcastle.

What does the team do?

This interesting role will see you working on a broad range of work.  Our lawyers deal with a wide range of work including property sales, acquisitions, shared ownership, right to buy as well as housing and leasehold management issues.  Our Residential Lawyers work for property developers, investors and social housing clients.

What will I be doing?

There's a lot to learn and you'll be given the training you need.  You'll play an essential part in ensuring that new files are opened correctly, adhering to both our internal processes and individual client requirements.  You'll be able to produce the initial correspondence and make sure that all files are managed effectively and efficiently.   As you learn more about the team and the work they do there will be scope to take on more complex responsibilities.  You'll have a great opportunity to develop your knowledge in this area of law.

Day to day you'll also assist the team with post completion work, preparing and submitting Land Registry applications, obtaining official copies from Land Registry, dealing with land charges search results, preparing financial payment forms, assisting with the preparation of completion statements, ensuring client files are compliant with the Solicitors Regulation Authority, making phone calls to clients and solicitors to update or chase for information and checking file ledger balances and closing client matter files.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll have a strong team ethic with excellent attention to detail.  Strong organisational skills are also needed as you'll be working to strict deadlines for clients.  Previous real estate experience, whilst advantageous, is by no means essential but you will need to demonstrate that you have some legal studies behind you.

What is also essential are strong IT skills (including MS Word, Excel and Outlook) and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  The team need support so a 'can do' attitude and willingness to learn is also key.

What makes it so great to work here?

The team is extremely busy so you'll quickly be able to get stuck into good quality work with great quality clients.  Supported by a collegiate approach, and firm wide commitment to development, there are fewer better places to start your legal career.

Alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.

So how do I apply?

Sounds interesting? Then we want to hear from you.  Please follow the instructions to make a formal application – just a few contact detail questions and then upload your CV.
