THE OPPORTUNITY     

The Communications Coordinator will have a demonstrable passion for PR, internal communication and producing and promoting online content. The role holder will have excellent writing skills and a strong grasp of what makes compelling content for digital and traditional media channels.   

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the tactical implementation of PR, internal and digital communications plans in order to generate positive profile raising opportunities and coverage

  • Contribute to the ideas generation process

  • Pitch stories to the appropriate media

  • Draft press releases, awards submissions and preparing media briefing documents

  • Build and cultivating relationships with press contacts at target media

  • Build close relationships with marketing colleagues, partners and other fee earners in order to identify new opportunities, industry trends, deal information and other newsworthy stories

  • Write posts for DLA Piper's social media channels including our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts and internal communications channels

  • Create content for posting on dlapiper.com and sharing on social media, and repurpose existing content so that it is suitable for a digital and also internal audiences

  • Select and edit images for use on social media and online channels

  • Work with web team members to identify opportunities for new channels for DLA Piper

  • Provide training and support for lawyers and others in the organisation on social media

The role holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Have an excellent command of the English language, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to write concise copy where every word counts

  • Have at least two years' experience working in a PR and/or digital communications environment

  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity in the delivery of PR, internal and digital communications activity

  • Demonstrate experience in effective use of social media and digital channels

  • Demonstrate stakeholder management, communication skills, diplomacy and negotiation skills

  • Demonstrate a keen interest in current affairs

  • Have strong analytical skills and ability to use feedback to inform how content is produced

  • Possess knowledge of search engine optimisation and how it feeds into writing web copy

  • Be educated to degree level

  • Display a consistently positive attitude and adopt a 'can do' approach as well as being able to work well on their own initiative and as part of a wider team; have a collaborative working style

  • Have excellent communication and project management skills

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy

  • Display a proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information

  • Have experience in dealing with a demanding workload and conflicting priorities

  • Be able to multi-task and work to deadlines, be methodical and logical, as well as thrive in a robust and fast-paced environment

  • Have the ability to see delegated tasks through to completion at a high standard

  • Be highly IT literate, with experience of content management systems and ideally photo-editing software
