Job Details

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Associate or Associate Director to join our IP Disputes team in London to play a key role in developing our Patent Disputes practice, particularly within the Life Sciences and Technology sectors. The role has arisen following the high profile arrival of a new partner earlier this year.

The practice

Our IP Disputes team is known for acting in high profile, high value IP litigation with an international element, as well as handling portfolio management matters for internationally recognised brands. We are currently acting in litigation in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and General Court (CJEU) on a range of matters encompassing patents, designs, copyright, passing off, and trade mark infringement.

We act for leading brands in the digital business, retail & consumer, transport & automotive, life sciences and energy sectors. Our sector-focussed approach ensures that we have valuable expertise in the areas in which our clients operate and deep understanding of the issues that they face.

The role will mainly be working with and supporting Will James, a Partner who joined Osborne Clarke in April 2019 and who specialises in complex technical life sciences and technology patent disputes.  Will is recognised in the key legal and IP directories.

The team

Our IP Disputes team is led by Arty Rajendra (Partner). In addition to Arty and Will, the team is also made up of 1 further Partner, a Director of Trade Marks, 1 Associate Director, 2 Senior Associates, 2 Associates, 1 Trade Mark Attorney, 2 Trainee Solicitors and 3 Paralegals.

Technical skills and experience

You will have gained broad knowledge and experience of Patent Disputes at a firm with a strong reputation in this area. Experience within the Life Sciences and/or Technology sectors is also essential to the role and previous studies/qualifications within biochemistry, biology, electronics or similar areas would also be an advantage. Due to the highly technical nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to hire a Senior Associate or Associate Director, although we would consider candidates with more or less experience.

Your career development

Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
  • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
  • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
  • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
  • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
