Job Details

Are you interested in a career in financial advice but not too sure where to start?   Why not consider an apprenticeship as a Wealth Planner.

We have a unique opportunity for an apprentice to join Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth, the financial advice arm of our Private Wealth team based in Newcastle.

About Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth

Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth sits within the broader Private Wealth department of the law firm.  The Private Wealth team have built a strong reputation for providing creative legal and tax solutions, financial planning and investment advice to a wide range of clients.  The department is a collaboration of lawyers, accountants, financial advisors and tax specialists.  Our expertise is highly regarded and ensures that our clients' wealth is protected, now and for future generations.  For law firms, this is a pretty unique setup which allows us to offer our clients the very best full-service advice possible.

As an Apprentice Wealth Planner you will join the financial advisory team.  You will benefit from thorough training leading to a career as a Paraplanner or Financial Advisor.

Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth advise a variety of clients, including companies, business owners, and entrepreneurs, family and charitable trusts, landed gentry, lottery winners.  The list goes on!  Our advice covers investments, retirement, life assurance, tax planning, inheritance arrangements, employee benefit packages and much more .  No two days are the same.

What you will be doing

Our Apprentice Wealth Planners have a crucial role in supporting the advisors; attending client meetings, acting as a point of contact for clients, undertaking research into financial products, developing solutions for our clients, drafting recommendation reports and letters, reviewing portfolios and assessing investment risk.

What are we looking for?

Previous financial or administrative experience is not required, but an appetite for the industry is.  We are looking for strong academic achievements, but a graduate level qualification is not essential.

We are looking for candidates with an intellectual curiosity, an analytical mind and a strong desire to be part of a high-performing team.  Your communication skills will be first-class, both written and verbal.  We are a business built around relationships so excellent interpersonal skills are a must.  You will be highly organised, efficient and a strong team-player.  Above all, you will be motivated, driven and willing to learn.

What is in it for you?

Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth are real advocates for organic growth within the team and have developed a fantastic programme for anyone looking to build their career in financial advice.  Many of our team have developed through our internal training programme and this is something that we feel passionately about.  This is great news for you as you will benefit from the career structure that we have worked hard to establish and is now tried and tested.

Following the Financial Advisor Apprenticeship Level 4 (equivalent to a certificate in higher education) you will receive first class training and support to attain your Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.  You will be given a clear career path to help you progress through the team with the help of a mentor who has worked through our training program themselves and will support you along the way.  Many of our past trainees have gone onto become Chartered Financial Advisors.

We offer a competitive salary along with a flexible benefits package that can be tailored to suit your needs. This could include buying more holiday to go on the holiday of your dreams,  buying a bike through our cycle purchase scheme to make your commute to work environmentally friendly and tax-efficient or joining our Christmas savings club to ensure you have the festive expenses covered! In addition, through our Diversity & Inclusion practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.
