THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Associate lawyer to join DLA Piper's global Real Estate team to be based in Dublin.

With more than 600 lawyers globally, we have one of the world's largest real estate teams, working across borders and consistently top-ranked around the globe. Our growth in the sector is directly linked to our clients' growing needs - we have expanded to support our clients, who want consistent, high-quality real estate advice everywhere they operate.   

Our lawyers have a vast range of experience and can advise on any area of real estate. We manage every type and size of transaction or project, and quickly mobilise teams of any size - anywhere.

We overlay our real estate practice area with a sector based approach - allowing us to support clients throughout the entire life cycle of their investments. We offer a full range of real estate services in areas including financing, fund formation, acquisitions and disposals, tax efficiency, land use, environmental law, planning and development, construction and leasing.   

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

As part of our market leading global team, candidates will enjoy a broad range of work acting for domestic and international institutional, developer and corporate clients from across the globe:

  • advising on the purchase and sale of commercial properties, mixed-use developments and high-value property portfolios

  • advising on the sale, purchase and negotiation of commercial leases, including short term and long-term leases, the assignment and sub-letting of commercial property

  • advising on all aspects of real estate development and the real estate aspects of financing transactions

  • advising on the real estate aspects of corporate/M&A transactions

  • advising in relation to real estate/real estate loan portfolio transactions, including the purchase, sale and work-out of distressed assets

As the first real estate lawyer in our Dublin office, a key responsibility will be to drive and grow the development of the Irish real estate practice with the full support of the real estate Partners in the London office and the Partners in the Dublin office.  

ABOUT YOU

We pride ourselves on having a collegiate environment and we are looking for down-to-earth but confident lawyers with strong leadership potential.  

The ideal candidate will:

  • have strong Real Estate experience gained in a leading Irish or international firm

  • be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the technical issues that are key to clients

  • experience supporting international private equity investments

  • experience of negotiating fund and private equity investments

  • draft documents using a commercial, client-focussed style

  • comply with professional standards and all relevant regulatory obligations

  • comply with the firm's systems, policies and procedures in all matters - including compliance, financial systems and time recording

  • have strong interpersonal skills with some proven business development experience
