The role of the Social Media Executive is to support A&O's brand and reputation by managing the firm's global social media channels, creating content, monitoring and analysing activity, and providing advice and support to marketing colleagues

Our business development, marketing and communication teams contribute to the setting and achievement of the firm's business objectives, which includes supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients' trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups - such as Communications - and professionals supporting offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.

  • Role and responsibilities

  • Leads on all social media, crafting dynamic and engaging visual content that achieves essential cut through above the noise, relevant to the firm's activity and which capitalises on the news agenda
  • Manages the global social media calendar, scheduling in content from around the network
  • Monitors our social media channels for comments that might cause the firm reputational damage and after consultation with peers, takes appropriate action
  • Monitors and develops reports on competitor activity within social media spaces
  • Supports the implementation of new social media channels, tools and platforms
  • Works with the digital team on the publication of content on the website
  • Works with the creative services team to source and create suitable images for our social media
  • Identifies opportunities to repurpose and re-tweet content
  • Works collaboratively with the wider marketing and communications team to advise on and support the delivery of campaigns
  • Audits and analyses our general social media presence
  • Analyses specific campaigns with tracking systems to gather visitor data and determine efficacy and areas for social media campaign improvement
  • Acts as a social media adviser to staff and works to up-skill the workforce and improve their knowledge of our social media channels and content

  • Key requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in communications, media relations or related field, or substantial equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in an agency or fast-paced business environment
  • Excellent ability to write in English, translating complex material into easy to read promotional copy
  • Essential and proven previous experience managing social media as part of an integrated marketing approach
  • Proven experience working with social media monitoring and analytical tools
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure with the capability to juggle tasks to meet short deadlines
