Job Details

We are seeking a Wealth Planner to join our Private Wealth team in Newcastle who operate as part of Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth Limited and have a solid reputation for providing creative financial planning, legal and tax solutions and investment advice to a wide range of both corporate and private clients.

The team

Our Private Wealth team are a collaboration of lawyers, accountants, financial advisors and tax specialists.  Their expertise are highly regarded and ensure that our clients' wealth is protected, now and for future generations.  For law firms, this is a pretty unique setup which allows us to offer our clients the very best full-service advice possible. .

The role

If you're looking for a new role as a Wealth Planner, this job will offer you breadth of experience, development opportunities and an environment that is hard to replicate elsewhere in the industry.  You'll join our Investments and Pensions team in Newcastle, working primarily on clients of the law firm, including individuals, corporates, trusts and charities. Over time you could specialise in one area, dependent on where your experience and preferences lie.

Our Wealth Planners have a crucial role in supporting the advisers, and on a day-to-day basis you'll attend client meetings, act as a key point of contact for clients, undertake research into financial products, prepare and present lifetime cashflow analysis, develop solutions and draft recommendation reports and letters.  You'll also be involved in implementing those recommendations and regularly reviewing client portfolios.  Much of our work is done in close collaboration with lawyers and accountants in the wider private client team, which allows us to formulate complex and holistic advice for clients which factors in the full range of financial planning, legal and tax issues.

There will also be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with the wider development of the team, either by drafting articles or factsheets, hosting seminars or networking events, taking on team projects or training and supervising the more junior members of the team.

Most of our team have developed through our internal training programme and this is something that we feel passionately about, which is great news for you because you'll benefit from the career structure that we've worked hard to establish.

The candidate

So, what are we looking for?  Ideally, you'll have experience working within an investment / financial planning environment and will hold RO1 to RO6 as a minimum.  A 2.1 or above at degree level is desirable, but by no means an absolute requirement.

This is a busy team and you'll need to be prepared to work under pressure with a high volume of work. We operate in a highly procedural environment, shaped by the practices of a law firm as well as the usual FCA regulations, so a good grasp of processes and procedures is required. Your communication skills will be first-class, both written and verbal, and you'll have excellent technical knowledge, plus experience in recommending investments, pensions, and life assurance.  Familiarity with a wide range of IT packages is expected, including Microsoft Office, plus ideally (though not essential) Intelliflo and Voyant or other cashflow analysis tools.

And what is in it for you?

There's a lot to get your teeth into but some fantastic opportunities for anyone looking for a unique, challenging and supportive environment.

We offer a competitive salary along with a flexible benefits package that can be tailored to suit your needs.  This could include buying more holiday to go on the holiday of your dreams,  buying a bike through our cycle purchase scheme to make your commute to work environmentally friendly, selecting childcare vouchers to make booking childcare easy and tax-efficient or joining our Christmas savings club to ensure you have the festive expenses covered!

Why Womble Bond Dickinson?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit and supportive team where you can learn from true leaders in their field and build your experience with access to great quality work and great clients.  Supported by a collegiate approach, and firm wide commitment to development there are fewer better places to take the next step on the career ladder.  In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed. Visit our D&I page to find out more.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
