An opportunity has arisen to join the global relationship management and business development team, based in London, as a Global Client & Market Manager for the Alternative Investment Initiative (AII), working closely with the business development and sector teams. This role will focus on growing a multi-product and recurring relationship with a portfolio of Alternative Investment Managers (AIM), in addition to providing support to the co-heads and steering group of the AII. The nature of these clients is that they are nimble and fast-moving, so the ideal candidate will flex their level of focus within this group of clients to pursue opportunities as they arise. This role will also involve sharing and encouraging best practice in relationship management across the firm and will be closely aligned with other relevant groups, including the private equity sector group (PE) and the wider financial institution sector group (FIG).

  • Objectives

  • To develop a comprehensive understanding of the structure, operations and strategic direction of the clients you manage, to spot opportunities with those clients and across the wider market, and assist the partners to increase market share.
  • To build an understanding of how and where the firm can best position itself in relation to these clients and the broader AIM market and their position in the wider context of the FIG and PE sectors, including an interest in general trends and developments across the sector.
  • To work alongside the Global Client Relationship Partners to implement retention and targeting initiatives to strengthen the relationship between client and firm. The aim is to progressively increase the client revenue streams or share of wallet and profitability, and to ensure that relevant jurisdictions and product groups are included in these client relationships.
  • To contribute to the broader firm wide approach to client management.

  • Responsibilities

  • As the Client & Market Manager - Alternative Investment Managers and member of the relationship management team your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing an understanding of clients and trends in the sector to identify opportunities and bring these to the attention of the relevant relationship partners to pursue.
  • Managing the production of client-related business analysis including: client strategy, client structures, revenue and profitability (including gap analysis), relationship mapping, market share, competitor activity, developments in the client's markets and client needs analysis.
  • Working with the Global Client Relationship Partners on day-to-day management of the priority clients and coordinating with the AII co-heads and steering group on our approach to this type of clients.
  • Managing the annual client planning review process for your clients.
  • Managing the approach to communication and information flow between key client relationship team members globally.
  • Working with the relevant BD teams across those products and sectors focused on AIM clients.
  • Developing a client listening approach for the client and carrying out client listening activities.
  • Cultivating and developing direct client contact with a wide range of job titles.
  • Working with the PE and FIG sectors, local and product based business development team members to support on-the-ground targeting programmes, pitches and marketing initiatives for your clients.
  • Contribute to the development of sector content and knowhow by feeding back client intelligence and perspectives on key hot topics, priorities and strategies.
  • Working as a team leader on relationship management priority projects designed to support the development of the firm's client management approach.
  • Contributing to the development of best practice toolkits and training sessions to assist the firm in its roll-out of relationship management best practice.
  • Developing an understanding of the firm's alternative resourcing models to recommend the right solutions for the client and A&O (where relevant).

  • Personal attributes and skills

  • Graduate (or equivalent) with relevant marketing qualifications.
  • Client relationship management and/or sector/BD experience in a large professional service organisation.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure, whilst effectively directing junior members of staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Business analysis and desk research experience.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Experience of change management.Strong knowledge of the financial services sector, specifically investment management or PE. Interest in developing sector knowledge is important.
