We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly regarded Corporate team in Bristol, initially on a 6 month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected and market leading team, known for having an entrepreneurial outlook and approach, and to work on high value and strategically important projects both nationally and internationally.

The practice

We advise at every stage of a company’s development across the full spectrum of corporate issues, partnering businesses as they expand through equity and debt fundraisings, joint ventures, acquisition and IPO. We also advise on the establishment of compliant and efficient governance structures.

We have devoted considerable effort to developing a set of key sector-focuses, in which areas we have achieved a nationwide reputation. These include Digital Business, Financial Services, Real Estate & Infrastructure and Energy & Utilities. The sector focuses enable us to understand the markets our client operate in and the issues they are facing, and hence tailor our advice accordingly. We work with an exciting range of clients including Foresight, LDC, Hargreaves Lansdown, Oxford Capital, InfraRed and A-Gas.

The team is led by Chambers rated Alisdair Livingstone, Partner, and also comprises of 6 further Partners, 1 Legal Director, 2 Associate Directors, 4 Senior Associates, 7 Associates, 3 Trainee Solicitors and 2 Paralegals. The team also works closely with the Corporate teams in Osborne Clarke LLP's Thames Valley and London offices, meaning that the department is made up of 70 lawyers overall.

The role

Your work will include:

  • Supporting the lawyers across the Corporate Group with administration tasks
  • Document filings
  • Assisting in post-completion matters
  • Preparing and reviewing forms and documents including Companies House filings, board minutes, powers of attorney, stock transfer forms and shareholder registers
  • Co-ordinating specialists' input into disclosure letters/bundles
  • Carrying out due diligence in relation to corporate transactions
  • Managing data rooms (both physical and virtual)
  • Legal research

The candidate

You will:

  • Have gained a minimum 2:1 for degree. The completion of the Legal Practice Course would also be an advantage, particularly if modules have included relevant Corporate/M&A modules, but is not essential.
  • Preferably have gained previous experience as a paralegal within a Corporate department, but this is not a pre-requisite.
  • Anticipate and take responsibility for your own tasks, and plan these accordingly.
  • Have good attention to detail and take pride in your work.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
