THE ROLE

The Central Tax Team are responsible for providing strategic tax advice, implementing tax policies, managing tax risk and ensuring / monitoring adherence to tax compliance obligations across the International firm.

This role will be based in Sheffield.    

The Tax Assistant will prepare the income tax, capital allowances and corporation tax computations for the UK and Irish partnerships and provide cover and support when the Senior Tax Assistant and Tax Accountants are unavailable.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Income tax computations:

    • Monthly review of tax sensitive expense accounts

    • Review and analyse year end accounts

    • Analyse general ledger accounts in detail

    • Fully prepare the UK and Irish income tax computations

    • Obtain all necessary backup documentation for files

  • Capital allowances computations:

    • Review and analyse fixed asset movements

    • Analyse movements into relevant categories of expenditure and obtain all necessary backup documentation for files

    • Prepare the UK and Irish capital allowances computations

    • Reconcile all movements to the notes in the final accounts

    • Prepare schedules for QS reports

  • Corporate taxation:

    • Prepare corporation tax computations for certain UK and Irish companies

    • Calculate payments on account each quarter (if required) and any balancing payment on finalisation

    • Prepare tax accounting notes for inclusion in the statutory accounts

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade

  • Be able to demonstrate a flexible and collaborative personal working style

  • Be able to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels within the organisation

  • Have the interpersonal skills to work as part of a larger team to deliver seamless services to the partnership

  • Have strong planning and organisation skills

  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and working to conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment

  • Be able to balance a high volume of work and deliver consistently high quality work under pressure
