Role: Maternity Cover: Head of Client Programmes (9 month contract)

Location: London

Reporting to: Director of Business Development & Marketing

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 9:30 - 17:30 (one day per week from home), however you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties. 

Opportunity overview:

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Business Development and Client Relationship Manager to join our global Business Development team for a maternity contract, based in London.

This role is responsible for leading the client programmes through a robust approach to client account management and client feedback, to better understand client strategy, challenges and opportunities and drive relationships across senior client decision makers.

This is a client and partner facing role. Responsibilities cross the entire BD and marketing mix, including CRM, strategy and pursuits, as well as support on significant BD function projects and the line management of one Client Development executive.

Programme Leadership

  • Lead the ongoing development of the firm wide client strategy, including the roll-out, governance and review of the Priority Client programme.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to Industry and Client planning and BD activity, including the design of best practice materials and knowledge sharing across the client and industry BD teams.
  • Lead the ongoing development and roll-out of the Client Listening programme, including the strategic analysis of trends to inform the firm's go-to-market strategy.
  • Lead the external client listening approach, undertaking regular client feedback meetings for Priority Clients across the firm.
  • Work with the Head of Clients on Industry and Priority Client recommendations and reporting, specifically to the Board and the Executive Team, making proposals to inform decisions on our client and industry strategy and investments.
  • Ensure client and industry successes and key programme messages are shared across the business through internal communications channels.
  • Work closely with the BD team and other functions to ensure a coordinated firm-wide approach to client and industry systems and management.

Client Relationship Management

  • Responsibility for the management of some of the firm's leading corporate clients. This includes direct client engagement and hands on client account management.
  • Accountability for ensuring the compilation, implementation and delivery of global client account plans.
  • Responsibility for the coordination and best practice of any secondments to those clients.
  • Directly supporting the delivery of agreed Client Relationship Agreement commitments.
  • Analysing existing client relationships and, using gap analysis, identification and driving of cross selling opportunities.
  • Working with the broader client teams, actively gather client listening feedback, reporting back on results, trends arising and taking ownership of actions.
  • Assist the partners in developing new business for these clients; focusing on pursuits, opportunity generation and bid strategy, working with the practice and bid teams on proposals.

Business Development Operations

  • Contribute to and lead various central marketing and business development initiatives, as required, in particular the EMEA BD&M team training programme and supporting the brand and thought leadership teams on the roll-out of those activities.
  • Continually support an improvement in the efficiency of our systems for winning, keeping and cross-selling clients, so that tasks are performed quickly and to a high standard.
  • Line management of a Client Development Executive, based in Glasgow.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Significant front line Business Development experience - ideally, will have worked within in a law firm environment.
  • Experience leading significant client accounts.
  • Experience in meeting with external clients and attending client relationship meetings.
  • Ability to juggle a busy and varied workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Line management experience and experience in motivating, developing and nurturing juniors.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing budgets.
  • Determination and commitment to ensure successful completion of projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Lateral thinking and the ability to overcome obstacles.
  • Team player
