Job Details

Allen & Overy is a leading international legal practice with a truly global presence. The firm operates at the forefront of the legal industry. Our deals and cases often make headline business news and we work with a large number of the top corporates, financial institutions (including investment managers) and governments (including major sovereign investors). With many of our partners acknowledged as leaders in their field, and with all our people demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism, we have a reputation for delivering excellence in all that we do.

We have developed a culture in which difference is positively valued, and our people are free to be themselves. We are in every sense one global team; supportive and collaborative, but also ambitious and driven. Our capacity to combine these qualities and provide a setting in which our people can thrive is what makes us different.

Department purpose
Our Global Asset Management Group advises asset managers and investment funds on establishing funds and the associated regulatory and compliance requirements for investment funds and investment managers. We also have a highly active investor-side practice advising institutional investors including sovereign wealth funds on investing into a wide range of structures from traditional funds to bespoke co-investment structures and associated legal and regulatory issues. Our Asset Management Group is very international in nature. With 40 offices across the globe, many of which work regularly on asset management matters, and with many of our clients overseas, our lawyers work on a cross-border basis every day.

Role purpose
Due to our exceptional success within the sector, we are looking to recruit an ambitious, bright and enthusiastic associate with 2-4 years of PQE experience. An excellent academic record is essential, i.e. a minimum of 2:1 Bachelor's Degree and relevant legal qualification. Non-English-qualified candidates will also be considered. In return we offer a compelling benefits package coupled with unrivalled experience and opportunities, first-rate training and development, all within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Role and responsibilities
The group's range of work is very diverse. You will regularly draft, review and negotiate key investment management documentation such as PPMs, LP Agreements and fund constitutional documents, as well as investment management, custody, brokerage/clearing and similar agreements. You will also build up a strong regulatory knowledge tailored to your asset management practice. As the asset management industry enters into an exciting new phase, we think there is no better place to be to develop a cutting-edge, diverse and interesting practice combining core advisory skills with the buzz of transactional work for a variety of major UK and international clients.

Key requirements
We are looking for high quality applicants with 2-4 years of PQE experience. Excellent academics are required, e.g. 'A' grades at A level or equivalent, minimum of 2:1 Bachelor's Degree, and relevant legal qualification.
