Job Details

Our national team of disputes lawyers in the UK now number over 200 firm wide, and with our proven track record in litigation, arbitration, mediation and specialist disputes advice, the team is undoubtedly a leader in its field.  With an impressive list of FTSE 250 clients including national household names in the financial services, retail and energy sectors among others, we can offer lawyers a truly diverse mix of extremely high quality work.

Partner and Commercial Disputes Team Leader, Paul Stewart, is now looking for a talented Managing Associate to join the team in Newcastle.

So what will you be doing?

Working with a national team you can expect to work on a wide spectrum of commercial disputes work emerging from our corporate, banking and public sector teams with a strong focus on disputes around commercial contracts.  You'll help us to further develop our local market share, running transactions in their entirety from the outset, supervising and mentoring others in the team to deliver those transactions for our clients.  More importantly you'll contribute to the growth and success of the business by developing the reputation/brand of the firm, taking a proactive role in building and maintaining client relationships, both in terms of revenue growth and profitability from new and existing clients.   As a key member of the team you'll also be involved in business development activities, influence strategy for the team and help others to develop in this area.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll already have experience in delivering first rate contentious advice gained at a City or leading regional firm with a confident and commercial approach.  Just as important is your ability to apply a forensic intelligence to complex issues on behalf of our clients, a proactive attitude to work and a level of personal resilience to support challenging yet rewarding cases.  You'll have experience of supervising the technical work of others and enjoy devoting dedicated time to share your expertise through coaching and mentoring and your strong internal and external networking skills will help you generate work in your own right.  Any experience you have in regulatory investigations will give your application a distinct advantage.

So what's in it for you?

Working with the highest calibre clients, in a collaborative collegiate environment this is a great opportunity to gain further experience working on quality instructions for either an experienced contractor or for someone looking to return to work following a break. Our culture is focused on our people - we place real value on personal as well as professional development and you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn from true leaders in their field.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
