If this sounds like you, we are keen to hear from you.  We are looking for a Finance Systems Developer to join our finance team and support them in a technical capacity to develop and improve our financial reporting functionality.

Background

We've identified that we can add real value to our clients and gain a competitive advantage when we have meaningful data to analyse, especially when it comes to financial information.  As a result we've heavily invested in our systems to ensure we stay ahead of the curve but we cannot afford to stand still.  The financial systems we have in place need continuous development to ensure they meet both the needs of our people and our clients and we're looking for a developer with strong-finance focus who will lead on this ongoing development. 

So what will you be doing?

On a daily basis you'll be working closely with users of our finance systems, dealing with questions and queries and providing guidance and support where necessary.  You'll also ensure that user records are accurate and up to date and deal with any change requests promptly. Project-wise you'll take the lead on developing the firm's Qlik platform, both to existing and new applications, with a view to enhancing understanding of the firm's finances and metrics and improving adoption of these  tools to aid better business decision making. 

On a strategic level we'll be asking you to undertake a comprehensive review of the firm's reporting suite and work to develop a coherent, user-friendly platform which assists fee earners and partners easily find the information they need to be able to reach their goals

Sounds great, what are we looking for?

Firstly, legal sector experience is not a pre-requisite for success in this role. In fact we're very open to experience from a different sector. It's this diversity of experience that makes up our existing team and is so critical in ensuring that we have we're continually challenging ourselves and considering fresh ideas.  What we are looking for is proven experience in a finance systems environment, specifically classic SQL server development incorporating SSIS, SSAS and SSRS.  Any knowledge of legal or practice management systems and Qlik Sense would also be a huge advantage (to both you and us!).

Aside from those technical skills, you'll bring a range of excellent interpersonal and business skills. We'll be expecting you to work with a range of people across the business so the ability to build relationships, at all levels, is critical and, importantly, to communicate (often complex) information in way that those of us less technically skilled than you, can understand. We're operating in a fast-paced and changing environment so the ability to adapt, and respond quickly is critical.
