Job Summary:

Our Procurement team leads the market in providing innovative and complex advice.  A growth role, this new position will add to the depth of our offering.  The new recruit will work direct with a Who's Who Legal/Chambers-ranked partner and will specialise in EU Procurement and State Aid advice for public, private and third sector clients.

Principal responsibilities:

This role will be varied depending on client needs but will certainly involve:

  • Providing practical advice on complex procurement issues and on tendering procedures, procurement structures and evaluation/qualification criteria and processes
  • All aspects of EU procurement regulation to numerous  commercial clients, charities and public sector clients including local authorities, central government departments, NHS trusts and registered providers of affordable housing
  • Pro-active participation in marketing initiatives
  • Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions
  • Training and development of junior legal staff and secretary (where appropriate)
  • Some commercial-contracts or construction contract experience desired but not essential

Person specification:

The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the Solicitor grade.  In particular for this role we require:

  • A demonstrable interest in public procurement and the public sector generally
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Strong client focus and focus on building relationships
  • Flair for business development
  • Drive and enthusiasm
  • Commercial awareness

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Qualified solicitor
  • The role ideally requires 1-3 years' of post-qualification experience in procurement law but equally we would consider applications from others who can demonstrate expertise in the area
  • Client-facing experience
