Research Analyst role is part of our central research function at DLA Piper. Led by the Head of International Knowledge & Insight, our team provides business and legal research support to our offices in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

The scope of this role is very broad with great opportunity to develop deep knowledge in a variety of sectors You will have regular interaction with our fee earners, business developments teams and other internal clients. You will be given autonomy to take personal responsibility and to work under your own initiative to deliver effectively the research support needed.

The central research team operates extended business hours (currently 9am Sydney time - 6pm London time). The role can be based in our London, Leeds or other regional UK office.


  • assessing, scoping, prioritising and allocating research enquiries to the most appropriate researcher

  • resolving research enquiries relating to companies, individuals, markets and competitors

  • monitoring and providing regular briefings on developments relating to specific companies, individuals, markets and competitor activity

  • supporting legal information delivery requests

  • supporting internal clients to make effective use of research tools provided for undertaking their own legal and business research

  • assisting with establishing a business research knowledge base and developing the central research team's knowledge through the appropriate capture of the research undertaken and participation in knowledge sharing and learning initiatives


  • Strong research skills and experience of conducting research, ideally working within a professional services environment, or similar fast-paced corporate environment

  • Experience of using major legal or business digital information resources such as LexisNexis, Practical Law, Westlaw, OneSource/Avention, BvD, Capital IQ and other major industry specific information resources

  • Experience of working on a service/enquiries desk and adopting workflow processes would be beneficial

  • A customer-focused attitude with a practical can-do mentality

  • Ability to handle competing priorities and expectations in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Team player with an ability to build strong working relationships in both physical and virtual teams

  • Interest in international affairs and the impact of these on the business and legal environment
