THE ROLE

  • Defining all DLA Piper (International) Cash Management processes and procedures. Cash Management processes include:

  • Office and Client Account Payments and Receipts (electronic and cheque)

  • Office and Client Account transfers

  • Bank Reconciliation

  • Management of all Joint and Deposit Accounts

  • Petty Cash

  • SAR Compliance Monitoring

  • Driving the stability, maturity and optimisation of all Cash Management processes within the DLA Piper GSC and all International offices.

  • Advocating the DLA Piper GSC service model for Cash Management with all key stakeholder groups.

  • Leading on all Cash Management service improvement and transformation activities including the implementation of new technologies and automation to improve quality, effectiveness and compliance.

  • Developing effective stakeholder relationships with the business to qualify and quantify the end user experience and to facilitate improvement activity with business users.

  • Significant travel will be expected including regular travel to the GSC in Poland

This role can be based in any UK location however Sheffield/Leeds/Edinburgh is preferable.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Finance Service Delivery Manager - Cash Management will :

  • Review and approve all Cash Management process changes, ensuring that all changes are tested, trained and communicated effectively .

  • Implement and maintain a Cash Management governance and controls framework to monitor, assure and improve process quality, effectiveness and compliance.

  • Establish effective working relationships with the GSC Cash Management team to improve controls and process effectiveness.

  • Work with the GSC Cash Management team to improve team capability and efficiency that will support further migration and transition of local services into the GSC.

  • Work with local Treasury and Cashiering teams to ensure international Cash Management delivery is consistent and to facilitate further service migrations to the GSC.

  • Support all audit related Cash Management requests and queries.

  • Act as Cash Management lead on all firmwide projects that impact Cash Management processes.

  • Work closely with other process owners, internal business support groups and external suppliers (including DLA Piper's banking providers)

  • Line manage the UK Cash Management team (responsible for local and retained processes).

  • Work with Compliance and GSC teams to improve compliance with client money regulations and to reduce breaches across the firm including the RCB processes.

  • Develop and deliver Cash Management business training and awareness programmes to improve end user understanding of the end to end Cash Management process.

  • Provide operational input to the project for next generation practice management system.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

The Finance Service Delivery Manager - Cash Management will :

  • have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be fluent in English.

  • be a self-starter, who is able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a virtual team, and has a strong client service orientation.

  • have a detailed understanding of International Cash Management functions including experience of complex or unusual transactions.

  • have an understanding or process management and improvement methodologies.

  • have experience of delivering projects and service improvement initiatives.

  • have a sound practical understanding of the UK Solicitors Accounts Rules .

  • have experience of transitioning services into shared service centres.

  • have strong coaching, counseling and training skills and the ability to lead a virtual team successfully .

  • be able to build and maintain strong relationships with the international teams.

  • be able to handle challenge from fee earners and service directors .

  • be an influencer, able to negotiate and have strong decision making skills.

  • be comfortable multi-tasking and working to sometimes conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment.
