We are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our highly regarded Banking team in our London office.
OC is acknowledged as a leading firm nationally in a variety of areas, and our London banking team forms an integral part of the sector-focussed approach. For example, we have a market leading reputation in Osborne Clarke's key sectors of Digital Business; Energy and Utilities; Financial Services and Real Estate and Infrastructure, as well as hotels and leisure, healthcare, education and fund financings. We have extensive experience and relationships across the sectors and service the needs both of borrowers and a wide variety of lenders across corporate, structured, fund, leveraged, project and real estate finance.
The London team is fully integrated into a fast-growing national and international network, which includes market-leading Bristol and Thames Valley offices. This allows us to move work to the office where it can be most effectively handled, while also accounting for the fact that an increasing volume of our workload is internationally sourced. Particularly notable is the strength of our US offices – which span the East and West coasts allowing us to provide on-the-ground assistance to our Silicon Valley clients (hence why we are a first choice counsel for fast-growing Silicon Valley Bank) – and the speed with which our European office network has been growing.

The Banking team spans all of our 3 UK offices and is made up of 35 lawyers in total. In London there are 7 Partners, 4 Senior Associates, 4 Associates, 1 Trainee Solicitor and 2 Paralegals.
The team is assisting HSBC Bank Plc with a facility made available to Upstream Marketing Programs Limited, a leading mobile commerce platform
OC acted this year for Santander, a longstanding client of the firm, on the financing of two hotels on PC for the Melton House Group. This ongoing work is one of several significant matters for our client.
In a further highlight for this longstanding client of the firm, we assisted Santander with amending and restating an existing arrangement made available to the Regal Healthcare Group in relation to the group’s portfolio of care homes.
We acted for the lenders in Project Waypoint, the financing of the Coolabi Group, a leading independent international media group and rights owner that specialises in the creation, development and brand management of children’s and family intellectual property rights.
APS is a digital banking services provider that is at the forefront of the FinTech challenge to the traditional banking sector. We assisted our client with the provision of £17.5 million of financing facilities by The Royal Bank of Scotland plc. There was also a further £3 million made available by BCI Finance Limited.
We assisted The Royal Bank of Scotland plc with the financing of Cranfield University. This instruction was won from the Midlands RBS team following our work with the bank’s London team and has been followed by several other transactions, including the £10 million financing of the University of Buckingham.
The team acted for The Royal Bank of Scotland plc on a facility put in place for the Royal National Institute of Blind People.
Technical skills and experience
You will have gained a broad range of experience in a high quality specialist Banking team. Ideally you will have gained experience within a variety of areas such as general Banking, Corporate Banking and Structured Finance.
As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint an Associate or a Senior Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
