Banking and Finance Lawyer - NQ
We are looking for an enthusiastic newly qualified lawyer to join our Aberdeen Banking and Finance team.
About the role
Our Aberdeen based banking practice acts for borrowers, private equity sponsors, banks and other funders. Ranked tier 1 by Legal 500 and Chambers we cover all mainstream areas of banking and finance including acquisition, funds, real estate and asset finance. The transaction based work is client facing, varied, fast-paced and challenging and ranges from bilateral loans to syndicated, multi-jurisdiction deals.
The role will involve:
Leading smaller transactions (with appropriate support): drafting and negotiating bilateral facility agreements and security documents and dealing with conditions precedent;
Working as part of a team on larger transactions: drafting and negotiating security documents, co-ordinating and negotiating condition precedent documents, co-ordinating overseas advice, drafting and negotiating legal opinions, organising and attendance at completion meetings in Aberdeen, London and overseas.
CMS has a global footprint and all associates are given the opportunity to build a firm network through attending learning and development courses in other CMS jurisdictions with colleagues in other offices.
Given the Aberdeen based team is small there is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven candidate to quickly gain experience and take on responsibility. The role will involve working closely with the partner as well as with our Aberdeen based associate and trainee. The ideal candidate will:
be a Scottish or English newly qualified solicitor;
ideally, have some experience (at trainee level) of banking and finance, corporate or other deal based work;
be hard working, enjoy a challenge and be happy to work as part of the team to meet deadlines;
be well-organised and proactive;
have excellent attention to detail;
have good written and oral communication skills;
be willing to attend business development events and start building their own network.
