Security Analyst (IT Services)

So what's the job?
The job will see you leading the ongoing work to protect our firm from cyber crime. As Security Analyst you will be recognised as the technical subject matter expert in the IT Infrastructure team and ensure that our firm continues to be protected to the highest level against cyber security threats. This is an influential position that requires expert cyber security knowledge and experience. You'll be analysing, reporting and advising on continuing improvement requirements as you identify emerging security threats. We're also looking for you to have a strong technical IT background and I'll come back to this as it's an important part of the role. Our IT team have a well-deserved reputation for being innovative and forward-thinking and you'll work with some great people who are valued and talented experts in their field.
This is a permanent job which can be located in either of our Plymouth, Bristol or Newcastle offices. All our offices are impressive and looked after by our great Facilities and Guest Services team. What will I actually be doing day to day?
You'll have oversight of our incident management process, security policies, security change controls and activities. You'll lead and implement related projects/ elements of projects to ensure security requirements are considered, identified and delivered against. You'll also be called on to assist with the completion of client tenders, audit responses, and GDPR compliance. You'll drive forward measures to protect the firm and facilitate ongoing education and awareness programmes providing advice, insight and make recommendations.

Who will I work with?
You'll report to our Infrastructure Manager and work closely with the wider infrastructure team. You'll also provide support to our IT Director, other IT Managers, Service Desk, Operations, Training, Test and Development and Change Management. Our IT team are based across our offices so there will be the opportunity to travel to other sites. You'll also work with our Risk and Best Practice team including compliance, internal audit and business assurance. Then there are our Partners, Lawyers, Directors, Managers through to Paralegals, Legal Secretaries and Support teams. It goes without saying that you'll need effective communication skills and the ability to influence, challenge and engage our people at all levels.
Ok so what qualifications and experience do I need?
This is a challenging role so naturally we have a 'wish list' of essential skills. Firstly you'll need to demonstrate previous experience and expert knowledge of current and industry specific threats. Ideally you'll already have succeeded in managing cyber security including performing upgrades and installations of the full end to end suite of IT security solutions. I mentioned that we are also looking for a strong technical background and this is because we'll look to you to provide additional expert knowledge in areas such as firewall analysis and configuration, identity management, authentication and federation with 3rd parties as well as an in depth knowledge of security software. Being a qualified CISSP would be an advantage.
We're open to different industry backgrounds, so you do not necessarily need to of worked within the legal sector. What's most important is your expert knowledge.
