Senior Commercial Lawyer - Leeds

Our Commercial team is a national group, with teams across each AG office working together on national and cross border transactions. The Leeds team is ranked in Tier 1 for IT with an enviable client base and consists of three partners, eleven fee earners, two trainees and two paralegals who are involved in a range of work types including IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing, facilities management outsourcing, logistics, IT & commercial contracts, data protection (including DSARs & GDPR implementation), Intellectual Property protection & exploitation, and competition. In respect of IT, the team handles some of the largest, most complex transactions in this market.
We are looking for a strong commercial lawyer with experience of at least one of the following sectors: financial services, industrials, aviation, digital, health and retail & consumer. You will take responsibility as an advisor on a range of medium complex projects, in addition to working as part of a team, as lead Associate, on larger IT and commercial projects across various sectors.
You will manage your own workload as well as supporting Partners on large and complex matters, handling a spread of commercial work as and when needed by clients. Your focus will be to build relationships with clients and to handle all of their commercial needs.
At this stage in your career you are likely to have developed a specialism in a particular area of Commercial law and we will encourage you to develop that further. You will also maintain some broader work to provide variety to your workload and flexibility for the team.
As a senior Associate in the team you will play a key part in shaping and driving the development of the junior team members and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to take on additional responsibility and advance your career.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
To be able to advise at the level required in this role, we expect that you will have gained a minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience or 5 years post qualification experience in a comparable practice or in-house.
In building this experience you will have demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills, a keen intellect, commercial mind-set and a solutions based approach. You will be able to demonstrate that you are able to provide pragmatic, robust and tailored advice in a way that supports internal and external clients alike. You will have developed strong client management skills and built a demonstrable track record of strong financial performance.
