We have an opportunity within our Energy, Projects and Construction (EPC)practice group for a strong Contentious Construction lawyer. EPC is one of the firm’s most successful and profitable.

About the role

The team works closely with colleagues around the firm, especially from Projects, Energy and Real Estate.   

The team has been established for over 20 years. We’re highly ranked in the legal directories (Band 2 in Chambers & Partners for Construction Scotland) and have developed long lasting client relationships and a huge depth of expertise. 

We act in major construction projects across the UK and internationally. 
We act for clients at all levels and entry points in the construction sector – including major institutional investors, public sector (local authorities, university bodies), contractors, insurers and all tiers of PPP contracts. 
Our expertise includes infrastructure, engineering, utilities, waste, transport, energy, renewables, healthcare, private developments. 

Three of our Partners are ranked and a number of the lawyers in the team hold Specialist Accreditations. 

Our lawyers are active in industry bodies in the UK and abroad. They are regularly called upon to speak at construction conferences and to write for construction journals. This is indicative of their recognition by others in the market for expertise within this area. 

About you

Essential Requirements 

• Law Degree 
• Scots and/or English Law qualified 
• Appropriate level of post qualification experience in relevant professional area - given the complexity of the work, we anticipate that candidates will need to have the equivalent of at least 3 – 5+ years relevant PQE to meet the demands of the role 
• Excellent professional track record in comparable firm 
• Experience in handling a wide variety of clients including those in major blue chip companies 
• Excellent analytical skills 
• Sound judgement 
• Excellent drafting skills 
• Ability to translate legal theory into practical and commercial advice 
• Good interpersonal and consultancy skills.
