Business Area – Business Development

Role: BD Executive, Built Environment & Real Estate - 12 month FTC

Location: London

Reporting to: Business Development Manager/Senior BD Executive

Hours of work -Monday to Friday, 9:30 - 17:30, however you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties.

Department/ Role Overview: Working directly with partners in real estate practice and across Built Environment industry to provide pro-active marketing support and high quality services to fee earners such as pitch proposals, events organisation, marketing collateral and other general BD tasks

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality pro-active business development support in a timely and professional manner for partners across the RE practice and wider BE industry group
  • Maintain and give active qualitative input into the content of publications and promotional material, liaising with the design and editing team as necessary
  • Support the partners in developing new business through pitching; includes providing background research, collating information on the firm's experience and producing a tailored credentials/ proposal highlighting the legal team's expertise
  • Manage the production of pitches with great attention to detail and to agreed deadlines. Organise and manage rehearsals for presentations where necessary
  • Co-ordinate and manage industry memberships to maximise membership benefits and ensure good attendance at membership events, as well as hosting membership events as and when relevant to do so
  • Co-ordinate and support on events (& sponsorship) schedule; includes sourcing venues/booking rooms, liaising with internal and external suppliers based on requirements, handling guest list, invitation and RSVP process, and on the day logistics, keeping key stakeholders updated
  • Assist the partners with their CRP duties, includes preparing and maintaining client relationship plans and client facing materials, and monitoring and reporting on client activity
  • Maintain BD systems such Interaction, website and our CaBS system to capture key/strategic information
  • Ensure digital channels (website, social media, direct mail) are maximised in support of BD initiatives and activities, liaise with the digital team where needed and report on analytics to measure success
  • Ensure all materials, pitch records, CVs, experience statements and contact/mailing lists are clean, up to date and easily accessible
  • Manage the distribution of promotional materials, including compilation of targeted mailing lists and managing logistics
  • Maintain marketing/BD calendars with all key events, directory submissions and publications, keeping key stakeholders updated
  • Assist with the co-ordination of directory/league table submissions, ensure all submissions are delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Keep abreast of industry news and trends, regularly highlighting industry, sector or client news to partners
  • Liaise with PR team to facilitate the generation of positive coverage of all relevant news items such as deals, lateral hires, awards, etc

Additional tasks

  • Act as an advocate for the Business Development department at practice level, ensuring key messages, brand strategy and marketing output in all its forms is properly understood and appreciated by partners and lawyers
  • Work effectively as a team with the whole Business Development department, sharing best practice initiatives and providing innovative suggestions across practices
  • Work within campaign teams as required
