We currently have an opportunity for a talented Solicitor or Associate to join the team in London, working with our national team and Partner Thomas Williams as he continues to successfully build our London based international arbitration and litigation practice. Learning from the best in the business you can expect to play a key role in partnering our clients to resolve a wide range of disputes including high value, complex High Court matters, as well as playing a key part in mentoring and supervising technical work within the team. Our range of commercial disputes is diverse – your work could include commercial contract disputes for engineering companies, to advising on partnership and shareholder disputes, through to warranty claims, judicial review, insurance related disputes, and everything in between, with increasing exposure to international clients/disputes. Our transatlantic merger means that our platform for international growth in particular is extremely strong and our London disputes practice is at the forefront of that growth.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate clear experience of delivering first rate contentious advice in high value, complex cases to include specific international arbitration experience and cross border disputes, gained at a City firm. Experience working across legal jurisdictions in Europe, the UAE, China, Malaysia and the Far East, Latin America, Australasia and Africa will be important.  Given the truly transatlantic nature of the work, an aptitude for languages is extremely useful and working knowledge of Mandarin, Cantonese, Chinese plus other European languages will help us deliver the best possible service to our clients. The successful candidate will need to be able to:

  • Manage complex high value contentious cases and arbitrations on behalf of our clients

  • Draft and review pleadings in litigation and arbitration cases

  • Draft correspondence between parties, co-counsel, courts and tribunals, and expert witnesses

  • Demonstrate experience of interlocutory applications

  • Advise on enforcement of commercial arbitration awards against foreign states

  • Demonstrate experience of procedures and rules in the ICC, ICSID, LCIA UNCITRAL and the KLRC
