Business Area –Risk and Compliance – Data Governance

Role:  Data Governance – Business Analyst – 3 Month FTC

Location: Glasgow

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Data Governance

Hours of work -

37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, working 8.5 hours a day including an hour for lunch, between the hours of 09:00 -17:30.  However, you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties.

Department/ Role Overview: 

  • Supporting the GDPR project team in analysing the personal data held by the firm and the processes that support the collection, processing, transfer and destruction of the data

Main responsibilities:

  • Analyse the gap between the firm's data processing and the target model
  • Review, document and enhance business processes in line with the GDPR
  • Document data models of personal data within the firm
  • Liaise with IT and other departments worldwide, as required to meet the project deadlines
  • Assist with the testing of system upgrades and changes
  • Support the SME in preparing for Steering Group and Risk Committee meetings
  • Adhere to Ashurst's project and BA methodologies

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of Business Analysis and requirements gathering using appropriate tools and techniques( e.g. Visio, etc.)
  • Experience of producing Business Process documentation including process diagrams and supporting documentation
  • Involvement in Business Process Redesign
  • Experience of producing non-technical data models
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and develop effective working relationships with people staff across the business
  • A proactive approach
  • Detail oriented with an ability to work accurately and efficiently even when under pressure
  • Ability to complete set tasks with minimal supervision
  • Tactful and diplomatic when in pressured situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Uses initiative - 'can do' approach
  • Client focused
  • Able to handle multiple tasks
  • Working knowledge of different analysis techniques/methods, including requirements definition and specification, ERD/DFDs etc.
  • Able to learn and understand current business processes and help to model new processes/ procedures

Desired skills and experience

  • Knowledge of the EU General Data Protection Regulation
