THE ROLE

A central PMO has been established in order to gain visibility, oversight and control of all projects being delivered across the International business at DLA Piper.  As part of this, a central project delivery team has being built to manage the delivery of the more complex, cross functional projects and programmes. There is a vacancy for an experienced Business Analyst (BA) to join this team.

The candidate would be expected to work closely with business stakeholders (including legal, technology and service areas) to capture and analyse requirements, identify and manage changes to all parts of the operating model and ensure that the solutions meet the business needs.  The candidate should have significant experience of delivering through a structured project framework and would be expected to work with SMEs and other members of the project team to facilitate the successful delivery of the initiative.  This is a business facing role and, as such, strong stakeholder management and leadership skills are of critical importance.  

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and validate a plan for carrying out the BA activities.  This includes stakeholder identification, development of a communication plan, resource requirements and the definition of BA deliverables appropriate for the change

  • Work with the Project Manager and SMEs to identify and define the business case

  • Elicit, validate and consolidate the high level requirements including any significant business rules that will influence the solution design.  This includes the use of appropriate requirements validation techniques (e.g. workshops & interviews) and the prioritization of the requirements to gain business value in a swift but methodical manner

  • Analyse, understand and correctly articulate the current ‘As Is’ state ensuring a sound basis for when capturing and articulating the future ‘To Be’ state

  • Analyse, validate and effectively communicate the requirements across many stakeholder groups (globally) using appropriate modelling techniques

  • Capture, validate, document and communicate the non-functional requirements that support the successful delivery of the solution allowing for future scaling

  • Lead the capturing and validation of acceptance criteria that support the accuracy of the requirements

  • Analyse, understand and articulate the scale and impact of the business change from the perspective of people, process, technology and data and collaboratively work with the Project Manager and Business stakeholders to plan and support UAT, training, communication and business implementation activities

  • Help to drive improvements through PMO by developing, maintaining and evolving business analysis standards, templates and processes. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and organisation

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience of working on complex projects in a structured way.  Strong analytical and facilitation skills to ensure business needs and effective solutions can be clearly and rapidly understood and delivered

  • Curious in what you do and question why you are doing it.  Desire to ensure that solutions are right for the business

  • Understands and can demonstrate application of different business analysis tools and techniques

  • Driven to succeed. Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work on own and as part of a team.  A strong leader who is good at managing people

  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.  Able to build trust and confidence with senior stakeholders but comfortable to challenge, negotiate and persuade when necessary.  Able to handle conflict and knows when to escalate

  • Articulate with strong written and personal presentation skills

  • Committed in what you do and deliver what you said you would

  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. ISEB) desirable

  • Comfortable handling multiple projects and competing priorities while operating in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

  • Able to identify, interpret and resolve common issues with minimal supervision

  • Anticipates the consequences of situations and plans accordingly

  • Able to develop and implement detailed plans

  • Able to build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally

  • Able to influence how an activity or a process gets done by exchanging information and working through others
