DLA Piper's Central Communications team is responsible for the successful delivery of PR, Internal and Digital Communications that support the firm's strategy across the International LLP. 

We are seeking a Client Communications Manager to lead on ensuring that all written communication issued by the firm across EMEA and AsiaPac is of the highest standard, and to help develop long-term content strategies.


The Client Communications manager will:

  • Be passionate about the written word and committed to creating first-rate content that communicates its message clearly and in a language appropriate to its audience

  • Work with colleagues across the firm to implement robust editorial processes

  • Maintain the firm's written style guide, in collaboration with a colleague based in the US, and ensure that it is adhered to across the firm

  • Have ultimate responsibility for the written output of the firm across multiple channels, promoting clear, concise and consistent English that complies with all regulatory requirements

  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on writing best practices

  • Work with colleagues in non-Anglophone countries to develop style guides in local languages and provide support for enforcing these guides

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of written output across the firm - including articles on DLA Piper websites, long-form reports and marketing emails

  • Writing and editing copy, creating headlines and other page furniture

  • Overseeing editorial processes across the firm, including non-Anglophone countries, and working with colleagues to make these editorial processes more robust where necessary

  • Sourcing and editing appropriate imagery

  • Ensuring digital best practice is followed, including use of SEO techniques

  • Giving colleagues training and advice on how to create strong written content

  • Working with communications colleagues to develop a strategy that will help our written output best serve the needs of the business

  • Liaising with digital colleagues to monitor the performance of our output and adjusting strategy accordingly


The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Have an excellent command of the English language, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to write concise copy

  • Be a strong communicator, able to build relationships at all levels within the firm and comfortable with delivering presentations

  • Have significant experience as a journalist and/or copywriter, ideally including time working in a business-focused environment

  • Be able to grasp complex concepts and explain them in a clear and concise fashion

  • Be able to establish credibility with senior stakeholders

  • Display a consistently positive attitude and adopt a 'can do' approach

  • Have a keen interest in current affairs and awareness of the global business landscape

  • Be motivated, resourceful and confident

  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and working to sometimes conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment

  • Exhibit cultural curiosity and competence

  • Be comfortable operating in sometimes ambiguous situations, demonstrating a flexible and collaborative personal working style
