Are you looking for new opportunities within a law firm that is significantly growing in size and global reach? Would you like a role which allows you to work with a broad range of litigators across specialisms and jurisdictions?

About the role

We have a vacancy for an experienced lawyer to support the Partners within our Commercial Litigation practice. This team has a proven track record of providing practical and commercial advice to a wide range of clients at all stages of the dispute relation process - from drafting dispute resolution clauses during pre-contractual negotiations, through to obtaining emergency injunctions in situations where assets may be at risk, to litigating complex multi-jurisdictional disputes and enforcing judgements and recovering assets.

Our UK based team advises on national and international disputes, specialising in sectors such as financial services, energy, lifesciences, and TMC.

The requirement of this role is to deliver specialist legal advice based on leading edge technical expertise. You will be expected to provide in-depth case analysis and briefings for the partners and the team whilst being able to manage substantial disputes under partner supervision. This will include preparing high quality and concise party/party correspondence, instructions to Counsel, pleadings and other Court documents as required. You will also be able to support the partners during the pitch process.

About you

You will have a well developed understanding of litigation, arbitration and ADR procedures with the ability to translate legal theory into practical commercial advice. You must have solid experience within a comparable firm recognised for general disputes work and be able to handle clients in major blue chip companies. Given the complexity of the work involved it is envisaged you will have approximately 3-4 years relevant experience.

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas of practice:

  • Conducting large-scale and complex international fraud investigations and civil fraud proceedings.

  • Experience of dealing with the SFO and foreign criminal regulators.

  • Experience of claims deriving out of former CIS countries (understanding of litigation processes in common law and civil law jurisdictions is desirable).

  • Conducting large-scale civil litigation in the entertainment, media and gambling industries, including horse-racing.

  • Oil and gas/ mining sector expertise preferred but not essential.

  • Bi or tri-lingual fluency (with basic understanding of Dutch preferred but not essential), willingness to travel.
