We have a fantastic opportunity for a Visual Files Developer to join our IT function in our Bristol office. The vacancy is available on a fixed term contract basis for 12 months.

The Team

The role would sit across our PREF Practice Group and and UK IT, reporting directly to OC's Application Support Manager. Day to day, you'll be working alongside our fee-earning Plots team and other developers within our IT change team.  PREF (Projects, Real Estate and Finance) is one of the biggest of OC's UK Practice Groups and is the primary user of the case management system Visual Files. Our UK IT function sits at the heart of our growing International Business.

What you'll do

Reporting to OC's Application Support Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a number of system changes required as part of a transformation project across our Plots process. You will also be responsible for taking long-term ownership of any BAU changes required to documentation and /or processes run the system as required by our client base.

You will have prior experience of translating technical requirements from business process improvements into tangible system changes. This experience will enable you to constantly identify opportunities for improving or streamlining the system process.

What we're looking for

You will be an experienced Visual Files Developer, ideally with a background in the legal sector (other backgrounds will be considered).  You will be responsible for gathering information and evaluating outputs. You will be able to manage strong relationships with your stakeholders and manage/support the scoping, planning and delivery of development projects. You will have case management knowledge and have the ability to liaise and collaborate with Business Analysts. There will be a requirement for you to deliver stable software developments and understand the business requirements to design a solution that will fully meet the business needs.

You will also be required to deal with all aspects of coding and debugging, ensuring that you collect, record and maintain accurate data and documentation.

Key Skills – you will have all / some of the following:

  • VisualFiles case management system development
  • Intapp Flow/Open – new Client Matter Inception process(es) and other business process management workflows
  • Legal workflows
  • Agile software development
  • Demonstrable Business Analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills and takes an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of IT with a good knowledge of several generic desktop software tools and, where applicable, deeper knowledge of at least one of the software applications used within own organisation
  • C#, VB, SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS would be desirable

Responsibilities:

  • To lead and assist with the development effort and be the primary contact for all support and maintenance for all VisualFiles based business processes.
  • Develop and maintain the Plots team's case management system.
  • Provide guidance and support to Trainee Developers
  • Work with the IT Development Manager and team members on software/systems continuously developing system functionality.
  • On a daily basis you will ensure that any change follows Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
