THE ROLE

The International Marketing & Business Development team underpins the award winning legal team's success via work on a wide range of high profile campaigns, events, legal products and client development activity.

We are responsible for helping partners to develop relationships with existing and potential clients, managing market profile and developing a sense of community within the international group in order to build strong and cohesive client teams. We form part of a larger International marketing team based in locations across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, with a strong core team based in London. We also work closely with our US Marketing counterparts.

The Marketing & BD Manager will lead and support in all of these areas to help the firm enhance its profile and win new, profitable business.

Occasional travel within the UK and internationally is a requirement of the role.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with International partners in order to develop strategic business development and marketing plans, the infrastructure (regular calls etc.) required to deliver these and help lead all supporting activity

  • Create and execute targeted marketing campaigns and events designed to raise our profile and win new business in key sectors and specific focus areas

  • Plan and execute UK and international activities and report on results and ROI

  • Work on the Group's key client relationships and client targeting programmes

  • Advise on pitch qualification and strategy, coordinate the preparation of pitch documents and liaison with the firm's central pitch team, manage rehearsals for new business pitches and perform pitch debriefs

  • Manage the production of client communications from concept through to distribution

  • Work closely with the digital marketing team to create and manage content for digital channels

  • Work with the Partners and the PR team to manage relationships with the media and proactively seek out the most appropriate press coverage

  • Provide insightful research on companies, industries and countries

  • Coordinate submissions to the main legal directories and awards

  • Identify and organise networking and profile raising opportunities for the lawyers with clients and prospects, such as seminars and webinars

  • Identify training needs for the lawyers on skills such as pitching and sales

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • A Degree or equivalent qualification

  • A high level of written and oral communication skills

  • Display a consistently positive and proactive attitude and demonstrate a collaborative working style; operating both as an individual and as part of a wider international team

  • Deep knowledge of marketing / BD processes for professional services - a sound understanding of new business processes, digital marketing, CRM and the emerging technologies that will help us win and retain legal work

  • An exemplary professional approach and demonstrably high levels of commitment and internal client care

  • Excellent communication and project management skills

  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with demanding, partner-led international environments

  • A proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information

  • Sales techniques and coaching skills

  • Ability to understand and identify with the firm, and its objectives and values
