The role

This is a new role to support the delivery of internal and external communications at Trowers & Hamlins.  This role is for a self-starter who wants to get their teeth into exciting communications and PR projects.  Reporting to the Senior Strategy & Communications (SS&C) Manager and working with the SS&C Manager and PR Manager, this new role provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious self-starter who is enthusiastic about communications looking for a varied role. The communications function sits within a 24 person marketing and business development team based across London, Birmingham and Dubai.

Key activities / responsibilities

Internal & external communications

  • Assisting with internal communications e.g. drafting newsletter type articles, intranet content, internal messages, business updates and other ad hoc communications.
  • Assisting with marketing communications e.g. drafting flyers, brochures, and website copy.
  • Contributing to the development of the 'Trowers voice' in all corporate communications (online and offline).
  • Compiling and formatting text content for design materials and working with the in house design team to ensure all communications (internal and external) are on brand.

PR

  • Assisting the PR Manager in growing the PR strategy in line with business development campaigns and initiatives
  • Drafting and distributing press releases, briefings and Q&A documents for key target national, trade and regional press.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on media coverage.
  • Maintaining and developing media lists.
  • Attending meetings with teams and partners

Digital communications

  • Making regular website updates including content, imagery, SEO and tagging.
  • Uploading news articles, press releases and profile pages to the website CMS (Sitecore)
  • Writing and publishing posts to social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) to compliment the PR function and ongoing BD campaigns

Special projects

  • Supporting the Senior Strategy & Communications (SS&C) Manager on firm wide projects and initiatives.Current ongoing projects overseen by the SS&C Manager are: the launch of a new website; and the firm's client development and intermediaries programmes.Programmes planned for the next 12 months include a client listening and feedback initiative.

General

  • Supporting the Senior Strategy & Communications Manager and the PR Manager generally with admin and general activity picking up ad hoc duties as they arise.
  • Dealing with general enquiries as they arise.
  • Providing general assistance across the whole team as required.

Personal attributes, skills and experience

  • 12-18 months PR or communications or marketing experience in a professional services environment (essential)
  • Understanding of PR and communications concepts and practices
  • Willingness to follow industry trends and current methods
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Well-organised, able to work with deadlines
  • An analytical mind with attention to detail
  • Creative and confident
  • CIM qualifications or a desire to study them (desirable)
  • Good oral and written communication skills with commitment to quality, a high attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and work with limited supervision, with a positive/ proactive approach
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines under pressure
  • A strong team player, ready to help colleagues
  • Well presented with a polite professional manner
  • Flexible and committed
  • Willing to work outside of offices hours as required
  • Willing to travel in the UK when required
  • Excellent IT skills (including MS Office)
