Join us

We are currently experiencing demand from our clients for lawyers with prime brokerage experience. If you are a highly-skilled and self-driven lawyer with top tier technical experience in this area then we are keen to hear from you.

Each client request is different, but examples of recent briefs include:

  • lawyer with at least five years’ post-qualification experience in custody, prime brokerage and/or general banking in the financial services sector, ideally including direct collateral management experience, to provide legal advice and support to the collateral services business of a global financial services company;
  • lawyer with syndicated prime brokerage experience and an equity derivatives-focused background to cover a period of maternity leave in a bank’s prime brokerage team, including the negotiation of market standard documentation with hedge fund clients;
  • financial services lawyer with cross-border experience focused on custody, correspondent banking, collateral management and securities servicing related activities and agreements, to work within a large financial institution on the negotiation of such documentation, the provision of legal advice and support to front and back office teams and the production of contractual documentation; and
  • lawyer with stock lending and repo experience to support the prime services business of a leading global financial services company on the negotiation of prime brokerage terms, ISDAs, GMSLAs, GMRAS etc. and the provision of legal advice, support and guidance, working closely with front office and project management teams to ensure consistency of approach.

More variety. More control.

There really is no limit to the diversity of high-level work open to you. We work closely with you to understand your goals and ambitions, and what you want to achieve with each role. Client assignments can range from stepping into a team to support a project to taking on a senior manager role working on major transactions or regulatory change projects or implementation. Assignments are usually for a minimum duration of six months and tend to require you to work at least four days per week. After each assignment, it is up to you how much time you take off between assignments. You may also have the opportunity to work within Allen & Overy on an ad-hoc basis, supporting teams when needed or joining them for fixed periods to work on a deal.
